Info: About me

Rafaela Persson is a freelance photographer based in Malmö, Sweden. A graduate of the International Center of Photography in New York, Rafaela mainly works on long term documentary projects where she spends extended periods of time with her subjects, striving to create social awareness.

Most of her work is from Afghanistan where she has spent a considerable amount of time over the past few years.

Rafaela's clients include The New York Times, the National Film Board of Canada, Sydsvenskan and the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan. Rafaela’s photos have been exhibited at The International Center of Photography in New York, the Pingyao Festival in China, The Annexe Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and at Babur Gardens in Kabul, Afghanistan among others.

Rafaela also holds and M.A. in Sociology with a minor in Human Rights, International Migration and Ethnic Relations from the University of Lund, Sweden.

She is a member of the international collective of documentary photographers, What We Saw.
